What: Take your time: Olafur EliassonEasy dates don't have to lack culture, and this is one exhibition so amazingly stunning it is sure to impress. The MCA presents the must-see contemporary art event of the year, Take your time: Olafur Eliasson. This amazing exhibition gathers works from major collections worldwide, spanning Eliasson’s diverse career from 1993 to the present, including installations, sculpture and photography. This is the first large-scale exhibition of works by this Danish-Icelandic artist to be presented in Australia. Raised partly in Iceland, Eliasson, raised partly in Iceland has used the weather as inspiration for his work which includes elements such as light, water, ice, fog, arctic moss and lava rock to create works that shift the viewer’s consciousness and sense of place. From light-filled environments to walk-in kaleidoscopes, Eliasson’s unique, experiential works explore the intersection between nature and science, and the boundary between the organic and the artificial. To make it even easier as a date option the exhibition has extra late hours on Thursday--after the art head to Pony for dinner or grab a drink at the Wine Odyssey (/www.wineodyssey.com.au) to end the evening.
